WELCOME

I'm Peggy Canales, Associate Professor of Industrial Manufacturing Engineering.  In addition to teaching courses like Lean Manufacturing, Work Design, Safety Engineering, and Professional Practice, I'm also the faculty advisor to our student chapters of the Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Association (EMCWA), the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), co-advisor to the Alpha Omega Epsilon Sorority (still in the forming stage) and counselor to the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).  I'm also the freshman advisor for Industrial Manufacturing Engineering (IME) students.

I really enjoy taking my students on field trips to enhance the learning process.  While studying the Toyota Production System in the Lean Manufacturing course, we visited the Toyota production plant in Georgetown, Kentucky.

The student SME chapter is also very active.  We are currently mentoring a robotics club at Bishop Luers High School with plans to have the team ready to compete in the 2005 FIRST competition.  Our chapter assisted the Fort Wayne senior chapter in hosting this year's regional conference at Pokagon State Park in Angola, Indiana.  The student chapter received two awards at this conference.
